3rd i Exhibition Programme Rotterdam
During the exhibition of 3rd i at MK Gallery in Rotterdam, every Wednesday and Friday evening at 20:00 o`clock V2_ organizes various presentations by Chinese and Dutch artists, curators and organizations. All events are free to visit. Exhibition: 9:00 to 17:00, closed on Mondays. Presentations: Every Wednesday and Friday from 20:00.

Saturday, August 14Opening The opening will be held in Shanghai at the Dutch Culture Centre. There will be a live link with Rotterdam and the MK Gallery from 9:30 Rotterdam time. |

Tuesday, August 174th Team Meeting One of the main features of the 3rd i exhibition are the maquettes. these were made by professional artists and architects, academic and High School students and are exhibited at the DCC in shanghai. During the making of the maquettes, the participants met each other in team meetings to exchange ideas and create the floor plan for the exhibition. The last team meeting will be held at the exhibition in Rotterdam and Shanghai, where members of both teams meet each other via the Telepresence furniture by Graham Smith and Webchair. |

Friday, August 20Institute for Provocation by Els Silvrant (B) Els Silvrants will kick off the presentations programme by presenting her experiences with the Institute for Provocation in China. The Institute for Provocation is an artist-in-residence workspace for cross-disciplinary research and debate situated in Beijing. www.iprovoke.org Speedism / Rotten Drone Temple Doom Rock by Pieterjan Ginckels (B) and Julian Friedauer (D) The international duo Speedism shows a performance on the break line of architecture and visual arts. Brunch V2 is organizing a Chinese brunch/lunch at several Sundays during the 3rd i exhibition. Come in and enjoy a Sunday morning with good food and experience the live connection to the exhibition in Shanghai during your brunch. Wednesday, August 25Urbanium Pavilion by Herman Kossmann (NL) For over two years Kossmann.dejong has been working on the exhibition design of the ‘Urbanium Pavilion’. This pavilion focuses on the theme ‘Urban Population’ and the quality of life in the city. Herman Kossmann will talk about this project in his presentation. www.kossmanndejong.nl WATW by Bas Vroege from Paradox (NL) WATW - We Are The World, the large travelling exhibition, dealing with globalisation and consumerism, has opened its doors at the third (and last) Chinese venue for the tour, the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou, China. The exhibition, a co-production of the GDMoA, the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre and Paradox, has toured through China since fall 2009. www.paradox.nl |

Friday, August 27P.A.P.A. by Lino Hellings (NL) P.A.P.A. is a travelling lab where photographers and artists from four different continents are invited to settle down in a city and produce news about it. The audience is involved in the process of newsgathering. www.papaplatform.com Modernity to Modernization: Chinese Media art since 1988 by Li Zhenhua (CN) As a curator of Chinese contemporary art, Li Zhenhua researched the history of Chinese media art over the last 25 years. Li Zhenhua also compiled the video art selection that is shown at MK during the 3rd I exhibition. Li Zhenhua is a multi-media artist, curator and producer. |

Wednesday, September 1City One Minutes Live in more than a 100 citiesfrom all over the globe is portrayed in 24 one-minute videos that together show one day. Sophie Leferink and Jos van Houwelingen present this project, which is also visible in MK Gallery as art installation during the entire exhibition. Friday, September 3Happy Street by John Körmeling (NL) John Körmeling is an Eindhoven based architect/artist known for his fantastic art interventions, often in public space. He is the designer of the Dutch Pavilion at the World Expo2010 in Shanghai titled “Happy Street.” John Körmeling will talk about Happy Street and his art in general. www.johnkormeling.nl Chinese urbanism by Shuo Wang (CN) Shuo Wang coordinated the Shanghai workshops for the 3rd I project and closely collaborated with V2_ in this project. Shuo Wang is an architect and researcher based in Beijing, China. One of his main interests of research has been the intensifying urban dynamics in contemporary metropolis in China and the new form of collective space that emerges. He has worked on various publication projects that have recently been published in URBAN CHINA, an impressive magazine dedicated to Chinese process of urbanisation of which you can see visual articles at MK gallery. |

Finissage with Martijn Sanders and Stef Oosterloo (NL) Martijn Sanders is director of the Netherlands China Arts Foundation that over the past 4 years had a coordinating and stimulating role for collaborative projects between Dutch and Chinese artists and art organisations. The NCAF was the initiator and coordinator of the program at the Dutch Cultural Centre in Shanghai in 2010 that profiled Dutch Design, contemporary art, fashion and music performances in a series of exhibitions and events during the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Via the broadband Internet connection used for the 3rd i project, Martijn Sanders and director of the Arts and Culture department of the city of Rotterdam Stef Oosterloo, will be online connected to close the 3rd i exhibition specifically and the DCC programme generally. www.artsfoundation.nl Come in for some drinks and snacks en celebrate the 3rd i exhibition with us for the last time! |
