Adaptation: Designing the Future City - 3rd i
August 14 – September 5, 2010 Tuesdays-Thursdays, Sundays 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays 11:00 a.m. - 7 p.m. local time Main feature for visitors of the 3rd i exhibition is the interactive exploration of a scale model ideal city of the future, using remote controlled video robots to take a stroll through the landscape. The view of the robots is projected largely in front of the visitor. The visitors can steer the robots using a body controlled step pad. The exhibit is connected via the internet with the project website and with the virtual exhibition site in Rotterdam at MK Gallery so that virtual visitors can also steer the robots in Shanghai. Both exhibitions sites also facilitate communication between the Chinese and Dutch visitors, using especially developed 'telepresence furniture' to meet, talk, debate and share with each other.
Video interviews by Couscous Global, in which workshop participants share their ideas on the future of their own cities, will also be screened at the exhibition. |
